Purpose/Aims: The Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Committee works to promote DEI initiatives throughout the department. The core aspects of this work include programs related to pipeline, selection, and education that span from the level of working with underrepresented high school students to recruiting diverse faculty to empower departmental excellence. The Research Initiative to promote Diversity in Radiology (RIDR) is the committee’s flagship program, recruiting more than 15 high school, college, and medical students from backgrounds underrepresented in radiology to participate in an 8 week summer research internship experience each year. The committee also works to advocate for initiatives related to promoting health equity. The committee’s accountability structure is governed chiefly by the annual department diversity and inclusion action plan which is submitted each year to the Chairs and Directors Council on Diversity (CD2).

Residency Clinical Competency Committee (Residency CCC)
Purpose/Aims: As part of the ACGME Milestones Project, we are required to form this committee as the main governing body to officially evaluate all residents twice per year. The responsibility of the members of the CCC will be to make a consensus decision on the progressive resident performance on achievement of the specialty-specific Milestones for each individual resident. The Clinical Competency Committee will advise the Program Director regarding each resident’s progress and offer any recommendations as needed. A benefit of the CCC approach is that it will offer the resident evaluation process the insight and perspectives of a group of faculty members. CCC members will include core faculty members from different subspecialties and different training sites who have the opportunity to observe and evaluate residents.
Number of meetings held: Committee meetings are held semi-annually. Each meeting takes approximately 2 hours and is held virtually. Committee meetings occur every 6 months, in the winter and summer. CCC Members serve for 2 academic years starting July 1 and ending June 30th.
