The UCSF Department of Radiology and Biomedical Imaging is proud to present the 2025 Desikan and Hasegawa Awards, honoring junior faculty and investigators whose research advances scientific excellence and patient care. This year's recipients are recognized for their rigorous work that is expanding knowledge in neuroimaging and cancer therapeutics.

Elizabeth George, MBBSAnil Bidkar, PhDElizabeth George, MBBS, assistant professor of clinical radiology, has been honored with the Rahul Desikan Award. Dr. George is a neuroradiologist whose research focuses on fetal brain development and neurodevelopmental disorders using advanced imaging techniques. She is currently leading a study on fetal T2* imaging, work that promises to strengthen the foundation for future investigators. In addition to her innovative research, Dr. George's dedication to clinical excellence and academic service reflects the spirit of the award, which commemorates the late Dr. Rahul Desikan, a brilliant neuroscientist and clinician.

Anil Bidkar, PhD, assistant professional researcher, has received the Bruce Hasegawa Award. Dr. Bidkar is recognized for his significant achievements in molecular imaging and cancer therapeutics. His recent publication in Clinical Cancer Research describes the development of CD46-targeted Actinium-225 radiotherapy for disseminated prostate cancer, a technique with promising clinical applications. Dr. Bidkar also holds the prestigious NIH K99/R00 Pathway to Independence Award, supporting his ongoing work in precision oncology. The Hasegawa Award honors the legacy of Dr. Bruce Hasegawa, a renowned scientist and mentor in the fields of medical physics and bioengineering.
