UCSF Radiology to Host Inaugural, UC-Wide Event on Women in Medicine
The commitment to supporting women in science and medicine continues to grow, especially here at UC San Francisco and across the entire University of California (UC) system. This includes recruitment and retention of women in medicine and health sciences, enhancing the culture for women clinicians, faculty and researchers and increasing leadership, mentoring and peer collaboration opportunities.
The UCSF Department of Radiology and Biomedical Imaging is very excited to host the Inaugural UC-Wide Radiology Grand Rounds on Women in Medicine in conjunction with Women in Medicine Month, which is celebrated annually throughout September. This event takes place virtually via Zoom on Wednesday, September 30, 2020 from 7:30 a.m. – 9:00 a.m. PDT and it is open for all medical disciplines.
The event was made possible by a grant received by faculty members Christine Glastonbury, MBBS, Priyanka Jha, MBBS and Kimberly Kallianos, MD from the UCSF Chancellor’s Fund Needs and Enrichment Award to support speakers for a series of talks to raise awareness of special circumstances faced by women faculty and trainees and to support their careers at UCSF Radiology and beyond. The event was developed by RADWomenUCSF, a new initiative promoting advocacy for women at all career levels in Radiology at UCSF. Through this virtual event, we will liaise with UC-wide faculty support initiatives.
Drs. Jha and Kallianos of UCSF Radiology will moderate this event that features speaker Christina Mangurian, MD, MAS, professor of clinical psychiatry at UCSF School of Medicine and the UCSF Department of Psychiatry's Vice Chair for Diversity and Health Equity. She founded and directs the UCSF Program of Research on Mental health Integration among Underserved and Minority populations (PReMIUM).
