UCSF Radiology Team Wins First Place at AUR’s Philips Vydareny Imaging Competition!

A highlight of the 62nd annual meeting of the Association for University Radiologists (AUR), held April 1-4 in Baltimore, was a first place win for UCSF Radiology’s Imaging Team at the 2014 Philips Vydareny Imaging Interpretation Competition.

Held each year, the Philips Vydareny Imaging Interpretation Competition features a challenging set of unknown images interpreted by teams from academic institutions across the country. "This was a first-time ever win for Team UCSF Radiology and it was truly a team effort," said Residency Program Director, Soonmee Cha, MD. "Our residents worked hard preparing for this competition and we were very pleased to take first place!"

The UCSF Radiology and Biomedical Imaging team included residents Ramon Barajas, MD, Kimberly Kallianos, MD, Akash Kansagra, MD, Ryan Kohlbrenner, MD, Valentin Lance, MD, Aaron Miracle, MD, Dare Olorunsola, MD, Javier Villanueva-Meyer, MD, and John-Paul Yu, MD, PhD. Faculty team-members included Soonmee Cha, MD, Ron Arenson, MD, David Naeger, MD, Elissa Price, MD, and Emma Webb, MD. Victor Sai, MD, a 2013 UCSF Radiology residency graduate, also competed for UCSF.

As winners, residents from UCSF’s Department of Radiology and Biomedical Imaging now look forward to preparing for and presenting at the 12th annual Philips Vydareny competition to be held at the AUR in New Orleans, Louisiana in April 2015.
