Tour Zuckerberg SFGH’s Mobile Digital Mammography Van

For many women in the Bay Area, breast imaging services to detect and diagnose breast cancer may seem inaccessible. The Mobile Outreach Mammography Van is helping to change that. The program, funded by the Avon Foundation, breaks down the barriers of health insurance, transportation, access, and language fluency for underserved populations of women. The state-of-art van houses full-field digital mammography unit.

Mary McGinty, supervisor of the Avon Breast Center at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital, oversees the “mammovan” and travels to twelve neighboring clinics throughout San Francisco to help meet the needs of women in our community. In our latest video, she gives a tour and answers frequently asked questions about the mobile digital mammography van.

For those who have health insurance, you can also schedule your annual mammogram appointment at our new Montgomery Street location by phone at 415-502-1330.
