Join Us for an Event on Conquering Osteoporosis with Bone Density Screening (DXA or DEXA)
Event: Conquering Osteoporosis through World-Class Care, Research, and Community Connections
Date: Tuesday, May 9 from 5 – 7 p.m.
Location: 1725 Montgomery Street in downtown San Francisco
The National Osteoporosis Foundation has deemed osteoporosis and low bone density a major public health threat for almost 44 million women and men aged 50 and older in the Unites States. Fortunately, with regular bone density screening osteoporosis and other bone problems can be diagnosed early. That way these conditions can be managed and even curbed with prescription medicines and lifestyle modifications to prevent debilitating fractures.
We’re proud to host an event to spread the word about the vital importance of bone density screening. On Tuesday, May 9, the world’s leading experts in bone imaging and orthopedic surgery will come together with patients, referring physicians and community members for Conquering Osteoporosis through World-Class Care, Research, and Community Connections.
This event will highlight the benefits of bone density scanning and specific diagnostic options, including dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry scan or DXA/DEXA. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet presenters Thomas Link, MD, PhD, chief of Musculoskeletal Imaging; Galateia Kazakia, PhD, director of the Bone Quality Research Laboratory; and Aenor Sawyer, MD, MS, director of UCSF Skeletal Health Service, all of whom are directly involved with interdisciplinary osteoporosis treatment. Discussing topics ranging from on-time screening to advances in science, the UCSF community will share important insights on prevention and treatment for the medical condition.
‘Conquering Osteoporosis through World-Class Care, Research, and Community Connections’ will be held at our newest women's imaging center at 1725 Montgomery Street, conveniently located for those living and working in and near downtown San Francisco. This free event is open to the public and to health care professionals. Food and drink crafted for us by neighboring businesses will be provided.
