Faculty Wellbeing & Woodworking Night Out for ZSFG Radiologists

Group shot with woodworking projects

As director of faculty well-being & DEI at Zuckerberg San Francisco General (ZSFG) Radiology, I recently organized and hosted the first social event specifically geared towards radiology faculty based at or rotating through ZSFG.

Faculty enjoyed dinner and did a workshop at Wood Thumb in San Francisco's Mission District, using reclaimed wood and various power tools to make cutting boards and magnetic knife racks. Though it was a group event, each participant made an individual artistic wood piece to take home!

While our busy clinical schedules don't often align, we were thrilled to spend an evening together, socializing with faculty from multiple sections– Abdominal Imaging, Ultrasound, Chest, Musculoskeletal, Emergency Radiology/Acute Care, and Neuroradiology. More than half of the attendees were new faculty who have joined us within the last two years, so this event was an amazing way for faculty to meet each other and get better acquainted. We got feedback that people loved the hands-on component and the camaraderie, and we already have creative suggestions for future events!

Thank you to Dr. Mark Wilson, Radiologist in Chief, for supporting this out-of-the box idea and sponsoring this successful event. We appreciate that faculty well-being is a priority at ZSFG.
