Dr. Amanda Baker, UCSF Clinical Fellow, Awarded ASPNR Travel Grant
We are excited to congratulate Amanda Baker, MD, for receiving the Charlotte and Thierry Huisman Travel Grant Award. Dr. Baker, a Diagnostic and Interventional Neuroradiology Fellow at the UC San Francisco Department of Radiology and Biomedical Imaging, was presented with the award at the January 13-15 Annual American Society of Pediatric Neuroradiology (ASPNR) Scientific Meeting in New Orleans.
Dr. Baker was selected for her research, "Patterns of MRI Brain Injury in Children after Out-of-Hospital Cardiac Arrest." The grant provides a travel scholarship and enables a qualified trainee to attend the ASPNR meeting and enhance the individual's exposure to the field of pediatric neuroradiology.
"Dr. Baker is an outstanding neuroradiology fellow who led an imaging-review project on MRI patterns of brain injury in children following out-of-hospital cardiac arrest, which is a collaborative project with our colleagues in Pediatric Neurology," said Yi Li, MD, assistant professor and Neuroradiology fellowship director. "She won the inaugural ASPNR travel grant this year based not only on this work, but also on her future potential as a leader in the field, as demonstrated through her important advocacy work for women in interventional neuroradiology."
Dr. Baker plans to expand upon the preliminary results presented at the ASPNR meeting to improve the understanding of pediatric brain injury and to help guide clinical management and expectations for these patients and their families.
"I was incredibly honored to receive this travel grant," says Dr. Baker. "Thank you to Dr. Thierry Huisman, Charlotte Huisman, the ASPNR, UCSF Radiology and, specifically, senior author and mentor, Yi Li, MD."
