Biography

Tara Morgan, MD, is an Associate Professor of Clinical Radiology in the Abdominal Imaging and Ultrasound section in the Department of Radiology and Biomedical Imaging at the University of California, San Francisco. In 2007, Dr. Morgan received her medical degree from the University of Maryland School of Medicine in Baltimore, Maryland. She did a one-year internship from Virginia Mason Medical Center in Seattle, Washington, 2007. From 2008-2012, Dr. Morgan completed a Diagnostic Radiology residency from the University of Maryland, followed by a fellowship in Abdominal Imaging from UCSF, in 2013. In January 2014, Dr. Morgan accepted the position of Assistant Professor at UCSF.

Dr. Morgan has particular interests in ultrasound-guided interventions, thyroid, musculoskeletal, and obstetrical ultrasound. In 2020, she has given the title of Director of Learning and Teaching of Ultrasound- Guided Interventions in Abdominal Imaging. She has helped expand and launch clinical programs at UCSF including the musculoskeletal ultrasound program and has participating in multiple research projects reviewing efficacy and success of ultrasound-guided procedures. Currently, she is expanding clinical programs and starting new research in the diagnosis and treatment of thyroid benign and malignant disease.

Dr. Morgan is a fellow of the Society of Radiologists in Ultrasound, serves as their Social Media Chair, and has served on multiple other committees. She is A member of the American Institute for Ultrasound in Medicine and serves on multiple committees including secretary of the Interventional and Intraoperative Community. She is a member of the Radiological Society of North America, the American Roentgen Ray Society, and the American College of Radiology. She is a member of both the LI-RADS and O-RADS committees for structured reporting for the American College of Radiology. She has written and edited numerous book chapters and coauthored 36 peer reviewed publications.
