UCSF Imaging Recognized as an Industry Leader in Marketing

Author:  Laurel Skurko, Marketing Director, UCSF Radiology and Biomedical Imaging

From radiologists, nurses and techs to the support staff and administrators, each member of the UCSF Department of Radiology and Biomedical Imaging team plays a critical part in keeping the department running smoothly and successfully. Just recently, the marketing team responsible for the department’s website, digital efforts and offline tactics was recognized with two accolades.

This summer, Feedspot, a modern RSS reader and website that indexes and ranks the Internet’s top blogs on numerous topics, honored the department's content marketing. The Feedspot team developed a list of the “Top 75 Radiology Blogs & Websites for Radiologists” from thousands of potential blogs. The UCSF Imaging blog earned a spot at #18 on the list, following some of the industry’s top resources like AuntMinnie.comHealth Imaging and Diagnostic Imaging. UCSF Imaging is the only academic radiology department to be named to the list, though many leading journals appear alongside the department – including the Journal of Vascular and Interventional Radiology, the Society of Interventional Radiology and the European Society of Radiology (ESR) Blog.

“This is the most comprehensive list of best Radiology blogs on the internet,” explains Feedspot. The blog ranking is based on Google reputation and search ranking; influence and popularity on Facebook, Twitter and other social media sites; quality and consistency of posts, and Feedspot’s editorial team and expert review.

A second notable honor to the department’s marketing efforts came from Advisory Board, a firm that uses a combination of research, technology and consulting to improve the performance of health care organizations and educational institutions. UCSF Imaging’s marketing proficiencies were highlighted during a presentation on “Capturing Interventional Radiology’s Growth Potential” at the company’s national meeting. On the topic of overcoming the challenges with physician referrals, Advisory Board referenced UCSF’s hyper-targeted marketing strategy solutions and the department’s experience marketing kidney tumor ablation to physicians. Additionally, the presentation showcased UCSF Imaging’s patient-friendly website, outreach strategies and successful communications.

The goal of our marketing efforts is to listen to the needs of our diverse stakeholders, from patients to referrers, and from eductors to students. This brings visibility to the world-class health services, education and research UCSF Imaging provides so that we can improve the lives of more patients. Communications with our stakeholders help us deepen relationships by validating the the technologies, services and resources that we provide to enable world-class care. Thank you to every member of the UCSF Radiology & Biomedical Imaging Team, whose shared excellence and dedication helps create a powerful message that resonates with our customers.
