Welcome Dr. Ronald Zagoria, UCSF’s New Chief of Abdominal Imaging!

The UC San Francisco Department of Radiology and Biomedical Imaging would like to welcome Ronald Zagoria, MD, as the new Chief of Abdominal Imaging. He previously served as the Chief of Genitourinary Imaging and Intervention, as well as Executive Vice Chair for the Department of Radiology at Wake Forest University School of Medicine in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

Dr. Zagoria earned his M.D. from the University of Maryland School of Medicine in Baltimore, Maryland.  He completed a Diagnostic Radiology residency at Bowman Gray School of Medicine in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.  He also finished his fellowship in Abdominal Imaging and Interventional Radiology at Bowman Gray.

During his time spent at Wake Forest University, Dr. Zagoria was head of the Abdominal Radiology Section from 2001-2011.  From 2011-2012, he was the Interim Chair for the Department of Radiology, and he served as an Interim Director for the Division of Radiologic Sciences.

Dr. Zagoria is a member to a variety of professional committees.  He is a fellow of the European Society of Urogenital Radiology.  He served as past President of the Association of Program Directors in Radiology.  For the Society of Abdominal Imaging, he served on the Board of Directors as well as the past President.  Dr. Zagoria has had the pleasure of serving many scientific journals as an editor and reviewer, including the American Journal of Roentgenology, Journal of Urology, Journal of Interventional Radiology, and Emergency Radiology

Dr. Zagoria has been appointed Principal and Co-Principal Investigator on several research projects.  He has been invited to over 300 lectures and presentations, and he has written over 300 publications, which includes textbooks, book chapters, journal articles, and abstracts.
