UCSF radiologists are part of the collaborative Multidisciplinary Approach to the Placenta Service (MAPS) team playing an important role in the diagnosis and management of pregnancies complicated by placenta accreta spectrum (PAS) disorders.

The Ovarian-Adnexal Reporting and Data System (O-RADS) is a recent addition to the American College of Radiology (ACR) reporting and data systems and consists of both ultrasound (US) and MRI arms. Lori Strachowski, MD is one of the original members of the ACR O-RADS committee. Tara Morgan, MD has joined and Priyanka Jha, MBBS will join also.

The SAR and ESUR set out to establish joint guidelines on PAS disorders and propose strategies to standardize image acquisition, interpretation and reporting with MRI. The lead authors of this important consensus work are Priyanka Jha, MBBS and Liina Poder, MD.

Peter Callen, MD came West from Chicago to UC San Francisco in 1969 as a first-year medical student. Now a professor emeritus, he can look back on a five-decade career that includes authorship of the most trusted ultrasound textbook of all time, Callen’s Ultrasonography in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
Ruth Goldstein, MD began the exploration of her radiology tool of choice, ultrasound, by taking up its long traditional use in obstetrics and gynecology early in her career. In fact, she literally wrote the book on it.
UCSF has recently announced the plan to open a program at the UCSF Medical Center at Mission Bay dedicated to the care of twin pregnancies. Ultrasound is key in the detection of twins and in the evaluation and management of these pregnancies.
