Michael Hope, MD, Appointed Chief of Radiology at SFVAMC

Michael D. Hope, MD has been appointed as the new Chief of Radiology at the San Francisco VA Medical Center, effective March 1, 2018.

Michael Evans, PhD, Awarded Major Grant from the Tuberous Sclerosis Complex Research Program of the Department of Defense’s Congressionally Directed Medical Research Program

Dr. Michael Evans was recently awarded a research grant that aims to develop new drugs to more effectively treat or eliminate tuberous sclerosis complex, or TSC. The research team has developed an innovative strategy that will allow them to screen for antibody fragments specific for cells lacking TSC1 or TSC2.

Christopher Hess, MD, PhD, Appointed Chair of UCSF Department of Radiology & Biomedical Imaging

Christopher Hess, MD, PhD, has been named the new chair of the UCSF Department of Radiology and Biomedical Imaging, effective January 1, 2018. In this role, Dr. Hess will also become the Alexander Margulis Distinguished Professor of Radiology.

Caroline Guglielmetti Named 2017 Bruce Hasegawa Award Recipient

At last month’s Department of Radiology and Biomedical Imaging’s Annual Research Symposium, Caroline Guglielmetti, PhD, was awarded the 2017 Hasegawa Award. The annual Hasegawa Award recognizes a graduate student or postdoctoral scholar exemplifying the scope and quality of investigation demonstrated by Dr. Bruce Hasegawa during his career.

William Dillon, MD, Steps into Role of Interim Chair of UCSF Imaging

William Dillon, MD, has agreed to serve as interim chair of the Department of Radiology and Biomedical Imaging, effective October 1, 2017, following the retirement of long-time chair Ron Arenson, MD. The search for a permanent new chair is ongoing, and we hope to be able to make an announcement before the end of the year.
