Nerve Block Produced

  • Conscious sedation: >1 level; cervical produces; >65 +/- years
  • Expectations:
    • Pain relief 2 weeks-2 months
    • Possible initial “flare” of pain
    • Effect may not be 100%
  • Repeat treatments-3-4 x per year
  • Potential complications
    • Stroke/cord ischemia
    • Infection
    • Steroid effects in patients with DM, or psychiatric symptoms especially in those on psych meds
  • Hyperphagic: Abnormally increased appetite for food
