Brian Haas, MD, is an Associate Professor of Clinical Radiology in Cardiac and Pulmonary Imaging section in the Department of Radiology and Biomedical Imaging at the University of California, San Francisco. He received his medical degree at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and he completed his internship at the Albert Einstein Medical Center, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Dr. Haas finished his diagnostic radiology residency at Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut, followed by a Cardiac and Pulmonary Imaging fellowship at the University of California, San Francisco. Prior to joining the faculty at UCSF, Dr. Haas was an Associate Physician with The Permanente Medical Group.
Dr. Haas studies the use of CT, MRI, and image guided biopsies in evaluating disease of the heart, lungs, and mediastinum. In particular, Dr. Haas explores the impact on clinical decision making of uncertainty following radiologic examinations. He also has an interest in quality improvement and patient safety, and studying how as a health system we can develop more robust practices so that patients receive the very best treatment the first time and every time.
Dr. Haas is an active member of the Society of Thoracic Radiology, North American Society of Cardiovascular MRI, the Radiological Society of North America, the American Roentgen Ray Society, and the American College of Radiology. Additionally, Dr. Haas is a manuscript reviewer for the American Journal of Roentgenology.
