UCSF Medical Center Named a Top 10 Hospital for 11th Consecutive Year

UCSF Medical Center ranks among the nation's top 10 premier hospitals for the 11th consecutive year and is the best in Northern California, according to the 2011-2012 Best Hospitals Survey conducted by U.S. News & World Report.

UCSF was named the seventh best hospital in the country, earning a spot on the survey’s honor roll. According to the survey, “a place on the Best Hospitals Honor Roll is reserved for medical centers that demonstrate unusually high expertise across multiple specialties, scoring at or near the top in at least six of 16 specialties. Just 17 of the nearly 5,000 hospitals evaluated for the 2011-12 rankings qualified.”

In addition to the overall ranking, U.S. News evaluated 16 medical specialties. In eight specialties, UCSF placed among the top 10 medical centers nationwide: cancer, diabetes and endocrinology, gynecology, nephrology, neurology and neurosurgery, ophthalmology, rheumatology and urology.
