Congrats to Anil Bidkar, PhD, a postdoctoral scholar in Robert Flavell’s Molecular Imaging Lab who has been awarded the NIH Pathway to Independence Award (K99/R00) from the National Cancer Institute. Bidkar’s research focuses on developing next-generation targeted therapies for metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC).
UCSF is first in the Bay Area to offer histotripsy for patients with liver tumors. This FDA-approved non-invasive, no-radiation procedure may be an option for patients who are not candidates for traditional ablation, surgery, or radiation therapy. Histotripsy may also be an option for patients with tumors located very close to critical structures, which may be difficult or unsafe to treat with other modalities.
