The UCSF Department of Radiology and Biomedical Imaging invites you to join us for our inaugural Alumni weekend, October 3 – 5, 2025.

The event will include a Friday evening casual soirée on the rooftop of the Weill Institute for Neurosciences with stunning views of Mission Bay. On Saturday morning, we will have a CME program at the UCSF Mission Bay campus featuring some of the department’s premier lecturers.

To wrap the weekend, we will host the Margulis Society Dinner and Gala on Saturday night at the stunning Hyatt Regency San Francisco Embarcadero. On Sunday, we are also offering a free Images Arts & Medicine tour at the Mission Bay Campus with light refreshments and artist panel discussion.

We hope that you’ll join us for a nostalgic and fun-filled weekend of learning and connection.

Focus on core concepts, practical applications, appropriate indications, and diagnostic pearls with an emphasis on timely and accurate diagnosis and impact on outcome. Future directions and controversial topics will also be addressed.

Donna Seager, noted curator and gallerist, hosts Artist Conversations. These exchanges will highlight the process and stories behind artworks that honor our colleagues and address the impact of art on health & wellbeing.

Cindy Perlis served as art consultant for the UCSF outpatient centers in Berkeley and Burlingame and is the founder and past director of UCSF’s Art for Recovery Program. She is a board member of the National Organization for Arts in Health.
Johnny Apodaca* creates landscape paintings, at home in Carmel and while traveling in Italy, that unite abstract expressionism with the natural beauty of the regions.
Bibby Gignilliat* is a local artist who created the piece in memory of Rahul Desikan entitled many colors of Rahul that hangs in the Radiology Department's Education office suite.
Emily Payne will share the story behind the making of FIVE DAYS which was inspired by her participation in the Reimagine Conference and her commitment to creating art for healing spaces.

CME Program Objectives

  • Evaluate current advances in renal tumor imaging and identify key challenges in differentiating benign from malignant lesions,
  • Describe the pathophysiology of endometriosis, recognize its diverse clinical manifestations, and evaluate current diagnostic and management strategies
  • Identify the principles of theranostics in prostate cancer and discuss their role in personalized treatment strategies
  • Recognize the clinical presentation and imaging findings of spontaneous intracranial hypotension, understand its underlying pathophysiology, and evaluate current diagnostic and management approaches for effective treatment
  • Identify and interpret advanced neuroimaging techniques used in the evaluation of brain tumors, differentiate between tumor types and treatment-related changes, and apply imaging findings to guide clinical decision-making and therapeutic planning
  • Describe the etiologies and pathophysiology of pulsatile tinnitus, recognize key clinical and imaging features for accurate diagnosis, and evaluate appropriate management strategies based on underlying causes and integrate radiologic assessment into early clinical decision-making
  • Identify critical imaging findings in acute traumatic spinal cord injury, understand the prognostic value of various imaging modalities
  • Recognize the imaging features and clinical presentations of atypical hip impingement, differentiate it from classic femoroacetabular impingement (FAI) patterns, and apply advanced imaging techniques to guide accurate diagnosis and management
  • Discuss emerging classifications and pathophysiologic insights in interstitial lung disease (ILD), identify key imaging patterns across ILD subtypes, and apply current diagnostic and management frameworks
  • Compare the strengths and limitations of various imaging modalities in the evaluation of ischemic heart disease, interpret key findings across modalities, and apply a multimodality approach to enhance diagnostic accuracy and guide patient management
  • Understand the role of pulmonary vascular interventions in the management of chronic pulmonary embolism, pulmonary hypertension, and other pulmonary vascular conditions, and evaluate the latest techniques and outcomes
  • Identify key updates in the BI-RADS 6th Edition, understand their impact on breast imaging practice, and apply these changes to improve the accuracy of breast cancer risk assessment, diagnosis, and management
