Leading Imaging Innovation to Improve Health

Welcome from Vice Chair of Research

Sharmila Majumdar, PhD, Vice Chair of Research

It is my pleasure to welcome you to the research site of the UCSF Department of Radiology and Biomedical Imaging, where our mission is Leading Imaging Innovation to Improve Health.

We are focused on enhancing the power of imaging to reduce uncertainty in diagnosis and innovate treatments. Our researchers have a distinguished record of NIH and other federal funding, ranking second nationally. Faculty members engage in team science with national and international collaborators, and are supported by strong cores in pre-clinical and human imaging, clinical research coordinators, 3D lab, cyclotron, and scientific computing center. Our innovative pipeline programs for outreach and equity are dedicated to training the next generation of imaging scientists.

To date, 24 faculty are Distinguished Investigators of the Academy of Radiology Research; others are fellows of the Institute of Electronic and Electrical Engineers, the American Institute of Biological and Medical Imaging, the National Academy of Engineering, and gold medalists from the ISMRM.

We invite you to explore our site to learn more about individual labs and research groups. As a dynamic and growing organization of team scientists, we welcome new collaborations.
