The Department of Radiology and Biomedical Imaging is committed to maintaining the highest possible standards of patient care and safety, from the moment a test is requested through to performance and final reporting of an imaging examination. This is true for all the tests we perform, whether it be plain x-rays, CT, MRI, US, nuclear medicine tests, or an interventional radiology procedure.
Christopher Hess, MD, PhD, is the Associate Chair for Quality and Safety for the Department of Radiology and Biomedical Imaging. Dr. Hess oversees all aspects of patient safety, and heads the departmental safety committee which meets every two weeks. This committee routinely monitors measures of patient safety throughout the department and responds both pro-actively and reactively to any concerns regarding patient safety that arise in the department.
We are one of the few departments nationwide that have appointed an experienced faculty member to devote a substantial proportion of their time to patient safety.
