Biography

Susan Noworolski, PhD, is an Associate Adjunct Professor of Radiology in the Body Imaging Research Group and the Abdominal and Pelvic MRI Group at the University of California, San Francisco. Dr. Noworolski supervises the in vivo prostate-imaging group at The Center for Molecular and Functional Imaging, and implements protocols and writes software to improve imaging and processing. Dr. Noworolski completed her BSE in Biomedical Engineering and Electrical Engineering at The Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland, and she received her PhD in Bioengineering from UCSF and UCB.

Dr. Noworolski’s research focuses on developing magnetic resonance imaging techniques and processing methods to improve the robustness and interpretation of MR measures by reducing artifacts and on studying diseases, disorders and healthy processes in the abdomen and pelvis. In Dr. Noworolski’s prostate cancer research, she is concentrating on building tools to evaluate DCE MRI and other MR metrics obtained in men with prostate cancer to identify cancer and to help eliminate cancers with different levels of aggressiveness.

Dr. Noworolski is the recipient of a five-year American Cancer Society grant and a recent five-year NIH 01 for DCE MRI research in prostate. She has 32 published articles, and she has written 97 abstracts and 5 significant publications related to her research.
