UCSF Named a U.S. News & World Report Top 10 Hospital for 15th Consecutive Year

UCSF Medical Center ranks among the nation's top 10 premier hospitals for the 15th consecutive year and is the best in Northern California, according to the 2016-2017 Best Hospitals Survey conducted by U.S. News & World Report.

UCSF was named the seventh best hospital in the country, earning a spot on the survey’s honor roll. According to the survey, “The Best Hospitals Honor Roll has been revamped for 2016-17 to take both the national rankings and the procedure and condition ratings into account. Hospitals received points if they were nationally ranked in one of 16 specialties – the higher they ranked, the more points they got – and how many ratings of "high performing" they earned in the nine procedures and conditions.”

Of the 16 medical specialties evaluated by U.S. News, UCSF received elite Honor Roll status for exceptional performance in 15 of them. UCSF placed among the top 10 medical centers nationwide in eight adult medical specialties: cancer, diabetes and endocrinology, gynecology, nephrology, neurology and neurosurgery, ophthalmology, rheumatology, and urology.

In addition, in the Best Regional Hospital category, which focuses on hospitals that deliver a wide range of clinical services, UCSF Medical Center ranked No. 1 in the San Francisco-Oakland metropolitan area.

UCSF Medical Center is recognized throughout the world as a leading academic medical center that provides innovative treatments, uses advanced technology, fosters collaboration among clinicians and scientists, and employs a highly compassionate team of doctors, nurses and staff.
