Bella Whalen

Biography

Bella Whalen leads FDA regulatory submissions for the UCSF Department of Radiology, including IND, NDA, ANDA, and IDE submissions, and provides ongoing regulatory compliance support for investigators and study teams throughout clinical development. She also works with the Quality Unit of the Radiopharmaceutical Facility to support its Quality Management System (QMS).

Bella earned her BA from the University of Pittsburgh and her MPH from Johns Hopkins. Prior to joining the Department of Radiology, Bella served as Protocol Development Manager at the UCSF Helen Diller Family Comprehensive Cancer Center, where she led a team responsible for protocol development and regulatory submissions for investigator-initiated oncology clinical trials. Before joining UCSF, Bella worked as a Health Policy Analyst at LMI, supporting health insurance programs established under the Affordable Care Act.

Outside of work, Bella enjoys open-water swimming in the Bay, trying to catch waves at Ocean Beach, running in the Marin Headlands, watching football, and planning conferences.
