Jan Casselman, MD, PhD, trained at the University of Leuven, Belgium, with fellowships at UCLA and the University of Florida. He earned his PhD from the University of Ghent in 1994, specializing in inner ear imaging. Internationally recognized for his expertise in temporal bone and skull base imaging, his work focuses on cranial nerves, advanced MR imaging, and Cone Beam CT.
Dr. Casselman has held major leadership roles in neuroradiology, including President of the European Society of Head and Neck Radiology and Associate Editor for Head and Neck Imaging for Radiology. He has authored more than 300 scientific publications and delivered over 1,300 invited presentations worldwide.
His honors include the ESHNR Gold Medal for Lifetime Achievement and the inaugural ASHNR International Luminary Award. In 2023, he became Full Professor at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Canada, while continuing his work as a consultant radiologist in Belgium.
