The RISE program solidified my interest in radiology and provided me with connections to students and faculty who I know will support me throughout the rest of my career.
The UCSF RISE program was one of the highlights of my time in medical school. Though I knew I had an interest in radiology, I had never done research in the field. Being a part of the RISE program was an incredible opportunity to learn more about some of the questions at the forefront of radiology, while doing research at a top-tier university surrounded by students and faculty who were dynamic and encouraging.
By connecting me with a wonderful faculty mentor and exposing me to research and career development opportunities, RISE empowered me to pursue a career in radiology.
RISE was an incredible research experience - not only did I get for introducing me to radiology research and shadowing, but also for helping create a group of students that I still keep in touch with to this day.
RISE introduced me to realms of radiology research that I did not know existed (i.e. health disparities, global health, advocacy), and welcomed me into a community of incredible mentors and peers who all taught me so much.
