Using Sound to Treat Women with Symptomatic Uterine Fibroids

In a video from last year’s Mini Medical School for the Public held by the UCSF Osher Center for Integrative Medicine, Maureen Kohi, MD, an Interventional Radiologist who specializes in women’s health and interventions, discusses how she treats women with symptomatic uterine fibroids using high intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) or magnetic resonance-guided focused ultrasound (MRgFUS). This noninvasive, outpatient therapy is an alternative to invasive surgeries such as hysterectomy or myomectomy.
