‘Neuroradiology Signs’: An Innovative New Neuroimaging Textbook!

An exciting and innovative new book, Neuroradiology Signs, has just been published by neuroradiologists at UCSF.

The lead authors are Mai-Lan Ho, MD, a Chief Fellow and Clinical Instructor in Neuroradiology at UCSF, and Ronald L. Eisenberg, MD, JD, a Professor of Radiology at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and Harvard Medical School. Other key contributors from UCSF include Drs. Jim Barkovich, Christine Glastonbury, Cynthia Chin, and Christopher Dowd.

The first comprehensive guide to signs in neuroimaging, Neuroradiology Signs includes more than 440 cases in CT, magnetic resonance, angiography, radiography, ultrasound, and nuclear medicine. The text is organized into seven chapters: (1) Adult and General Brain; (2) Pediatric Brain; (3) Head, Neck, and Orbits; (4) Vascular; (5) Skull and Facial Bones; (6) Vertebrae; and (7) Spinal Cord and Nerves.

With its unique pattern-based approach, Neuroradiology Signs is designed to be a concise and enjoyable read for anyone interested in neuroimaging.  Full-color photographs are utilized for “real-world” visual correlation. Each sign also includes imaging findings, differential diagnosis, discussion, and key references.  The index is conveniently organized by sign, diagnosis, and modality.

"I began collecting neuroimaging signs as a radiology resident at BIDMC," recalls Dr. Ho. "It was a fun and easy way to learn neuroradiology, and I wanted to share that passion for learning with others. Thanks to my fellowship at UCSF, this book contains some of the most amazing cases from both the East and West Coasts!”

In his foreword to the new textbook, William P. Dillon, MD, Chief of Neuroradiology and Executive Vice-Chair of Radiology and Biomedical Imaging at UCSF, describes Neuroradiology Signs as the “perfect boards study aid, as well as a great reference book for any clinician wishing to refresh or expand their differential diagnosis in neuroimaging.”
