Biography

Bhavya Rehani, MD is Assistant Professor In Residence in the Department of Radiology and Biomedical Imaging at the University of California, San Francisco. Prior to joining UCSF in 2014, Dr. Rehani was a Clinical Assistant in Neuroradiology at Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School. She completed her neuroradiology fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital and residency at University of Cincinnati and National Institutes of Health (NIH) Clinical Center.

Dr. Rehani was a co-investigator in two NIH intramural research projects on Computer Aided Detection, which she completed at the NIH Clinical Center. Dr. Rehani is interested in imaging in Stroke, CNS infections and Brain Trauma. Her research focuses on advanced imaging, functional MRI, neurovascular imaging of stroke including perfusion and development of imaging biomarkers for precision medicine to improve patient care and outcomes. She received the Roentgen Resident/Fellow Research Award by the RSNA Research Foundation in 2012, Helen Popoway Research Award for outstanding presentation in 2008 and Travel Scholarship by National Institute of Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering (NIBIB) and American Association of University Radiologists (AUR) in 2011.

Dr. Rehani has extensive global health experience and has been involved in multiple global health projects addressing health inequities for over ten years. She studied the neuroimaging findings of advanced HIV/AIDS in Africa and Asia, assisted in setting up polio camps in 2000-2004 before polio was eradicated in India, volunteered as consultant radiologist and mentored trainees from Africa and Asia. Her interests include application of Health IT, cloud based technological solutions and mobile Health for innovative solutions to improve stroke care worldwide.
