This 2020 Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) Annual Meeting is being held virtually. The UC San Francisco Department of Radiology and Biomedical Imaging is pleased to announce that four trainees received prizes, and we’d like to give recognition.

At this year's Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) Annual Meeting, Bhavya Rehani, MD was invited to give the Annual Oration in Diagnostic Radiology on Tuesday, December 1, 2020. This is an honored lecture presented by invitation of the RSNA president, with the approval of the board of directors.

The Gold Medal is the highest honor given by the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA). Congratulations to Ronald Arenson, MD, professor emeritus and longtime chair on receiving this honor at the annual meeting.

Alzheimer's disease (AD) is defined as amyloid plaques, tau tangles and degeneration of nerve cells in the brain leading to memory problems, cognitive decline and dementia. Currently, there are no treatments which slow the progression of AD, but a number of treatments are in late-stage clinical trials and some appear promising.

A team of physicians from the UC San Francisco Department of Radiology and Biomedical Imaging and the San Francisco Veterans Affairs Medical Center (SFVAMC) worked on and presented a framework for how to weigh repeatedly negative test results in clinical decision making when there is ongoing concern for COVID-19.

Thank you to all UCSF Medical Center Radiology staff – you are the essential workers who continue to provide essential services during this time.
